From Market Stall to £25M: How Valentte Built an 8-Figure eCommerce Brand with Luke Bream (episode 588)
Luke Bream is the Chief Executive and Co-founder at Valentte, sellers of organic skincare and home fragrance. Founded on a market stall in 2011, they now do £25 million via their WooCommerce store and some on Amazon.
In this episode, Luke shares the story behind Valentte’s journey from a small market stall to an 8-figure eCommerce brand, including the pivotal decisions that accelerated their growth. He explains why the team keeps marketing in-house, how they approach scaling paid ads and creative testing, and what founders must change in their leadership to grow a business from millions to $100M and beyond.

Growth Often Comes from Being Ready for the Right Moment
Valentte spent almost 10 years as a small business before its rapid growth phase. The company was doing about £500k a year, mainly through market stalls. When COVID hit, the team shifted hard into eCommerce and invested in Facebook ads. That decision unlocked extraordinary growth, taking the brand to £25M in annual revenue. The lesson is simple: growth can happen fast, but only if the foundations are already in place.
The Skills That Build a Business Won’t Scale It
Luke explains that the founder’s role must change as the business grows. In the early days, he made most of the decisions and directed the team closely. But once the company passed eight figures, that approach stopped working. Scaling required bringing in experienced leaders and stronger systems. For eCommerce founders, this is a key realization: the company can only grow as fast as the leader grows.
Master a Few Marketing Channels Instead of Doing Everything
Valentte did not try to be everywhere. Instead, the team focused heavily on paid ads and email marketing. By mastering these channels, they built a strong acquisition engine and excellent customer retention. Today, about 80% of their orders come from repeat customers. For eCommerce brands, the lesson is clear: focus on a few channels and become exceptional at them.
Creative Is Now the Most Important Part of Paid Ads
The biggest shift in digital advertising today is the importance of creative testing at scale. In the past, success came from targeting and technical ad setup. Now it comes from producing large volumes of creative and quickly identifying winners. Some ad accounts now run thousands or even tens of thousands of ads. The brands that win are the ones that can generate and test ideas faster than everyone else.
AI Doesn’t Replace Strategy — It Multiplies Execution
Valentte has embraced AI by hiring a dedicated specialist to drive adoption inside the business. But Luke is clear that AI is not a replacement for human thinking. You still need people to set strategy, understand the customer, and guide the work. What AI does is increase speed and output dramatically. The companies that win will be those that combine strong strategy with faster execution.
