099: John Warrillow author of The Automatic Customer and Built to Sell discusses Subscription eCommerce

April 24, 2017 By Chloë Thomas Leave a Comment

We have John Warrillow on the show, author of both ‘The Automatic Customer’ and ‘Built to Sell’. I found both books really useful, and ‘The Automatic Customer’ is often recommended by our guests, as of course, you will know. Not least because it’s the key text on subscription businesses. I’m going to be discussing The Automatic Customer with John, along with lots of other topics, and I’m going to be including some questions from you, the listeners. So thanks to those of you who submitted questions in the Facebook group, if you don’t want to miss out next time. I can’t promise to use all your questions, but I will do my best to fit them in.

022: Lick my Dip’s Dave Rotheroe on using Crowdfunding and Thunderclap to launch 2 subscription businesses in 6 months

November 2, 2015 By Chloë Thomas Leave a Comment

Dave Rotheroe is the proprietor of Lick My Dip and co-founder of Cheese Posties. Clearly a man who can name a business well! Lick My Dip is a subscription discovery service for hot sauce and chilli lovers – each month customers receive a parcel of surprise spicy goods. The first orders went out in May 2015, and they are already shipping globally. Cheese Posties is almost 2 months old, and has been described by Aol.com as “the uber of grilled cheese sandwiches” – and yes you guessed it you can subscribe to receive a toasted cheese sandwich in the post each week, week one had 600 subscribers and grown from there.

003: Muck Munchers’ Martin Harvey on how to grow fast in year one

June 23, 2015 By Chloë Thomas Leave a Comment

martin harvey muck munchers

How to grow your eCommerce Business, join us as Martin Harvey from Muck Munchers shares his key tips.

Martin Harvey is an eCommerce stalwart (launched his first eCommerce site in 2000). A highly respected and experienced managing director and marketing director within the B2C direct marketing sector, with a proven record for defining and delivering successful, high-return direct marketing business plans in both European and UK businesses, including start-ups, turn-rounds and acquisitions.

With outstanding pedigree in the garden sector (Marshalls Seeds and Hayloft Plants to name but two) it’s not surprising that when it came to starting his own eCommerce business last year he stuck with the customers back garden. What is surprising is that he’s gone underground into the mucky world of septic tanks & cess pits!

Muck Munchers offers the ultimate septic tank treatment. (I’m going to let Martin explain further than that!) It’s an Online Only business that’s leveraging offline marketing to fast track customer acquisition.
