“How does affiliate marketing work?” is a question I get asked with surprising frequency. And this is a great infographic to explain it.
In a nutshell as a merchant you (or advertiser in the below), you pay a commission to the publishers (aka affiliates) when they drive a sale to your website.
These days most affiliates aren’t bloggers, but the system works the same way.
Most affiliate sales tend to come from:
- voucher code websites
- cashback websites
- PPC affiliates (they buy traffic on Google and send it to your website)
- remarketing affiliates (they have some cool technology that does your remarketing for you)
